Nintendo Switch – EA is not convinced yet, plans no further games for the time being
Electronic Arts wants to wait until FIFA 18 to see how the Nintendo Switch develops. Until then, the publisher does not want to publish any more games.
In May, we reported that Electronic Arts, after FIFA, plans to roll out 18 more games from its own portfolio for the Nintendo Switch. But that’s not going to work out, as the company does not intend to release more titles for the hybrid console in the near future, the Wall Street Journal reports.
EA’s CFO Blake Jorgensen said the publisher needed to “fully understand the customer’s demand.” Therefore, one wants to wait until the switch was on the market for a whole year, and then decide whether to consider additional titles for the console.
So far, FIFA 18 is EA’s first and only title for the Switch. How well the football game arrived with the fans, but is unclear, because official sales numbers did not name the company. According to Blake, EA would start thinking about more switch titles in March 2018 at the earliest. The Nintendo Switch appeared on March 3, 2017.
After all: The indie game Fe is still to be ported for the switch. In January, EA expressed positive about the console. Nintendo is forcing the developers to “think differently”. Nintendo cannot complain too, the switch scratches but already on the sales of the Wii U.
